About SewJo SewSlo
I started sewing about a year ago, chasing the idea that if I made my own clothes, they'd finally fit right. They didn't — not straight away. Like a lot of people under 5 foot, I kept running into patterns that "fit" on paper and did something completely different once I put them on. It took a lot of unworn makes and a fair bit of frustration to understand why.
Around the same time, I was navigating a health journey that meant stepping back from work for a while. Sewing became something steady to hold onto — a way to slow down, use my hands, and feel like myself again when a lot else felt out of my control. It's also opened my eyes to a bigger idea I'm slowly exploring: clothes that can move and adjust with a changing body, not just a static size.
SewJo SewSlo is what came out of both of those things — a warm, unhurried space for beginner and petite-proportioned sewists who want sewing to feel good, not stressful. I believe creativity should be grounding, not another thing to get perfect at, and that fit shouldn't be a mystery you're expected to solve alone.
I create tools, tutorials, and resources to make sewing — and getting things to actually fit — feel straightforward and supportive, without overwhelm or gatekeeping. If you're new here, petite, or just craving a gentler way to learn, you're in the right place.
Let's build your sewing confidence, one honest, happy stitch at a time.
